Once a 5-star beach that I loved, but the beach is gone now due to major beach erosion in the area. There is no sand left in front of the Mana Kai Maui Resort. ☹️
Fantastic beach, great snorkeling here, saw lots of turtles and every type of fish off the beach. Not too crowded, but you need to go early to get a decent spot. Sand is beautiful, easy to get in .
So the actual park was closed the day we visited. We still managed to go to the beach next to it. Very beautiful. Awesome sand
Very little shade tho.
Bring an umbrella if you have one. Most Airbnbs provide a couple.
The water had the perfect temperature and there were a lot of people snorkeling and scuba diving
My absolute favorite beach and the grassy knoll area with 29 palms is as beautiful as it is relaxing. There are often turtles and always colorful Coral reef fish to see while snorkeling. So thankful ~
My wife and I travelled to Maui for 7 days the first week of December 2023. This was the last of 6 different beaches we spent time on for swimming/snorkeling and relaxing. It was by FAR the BEST beach on this shoreline between Kihei and Wailea. Long walks, 3-4 spots where volcanic rocks allow for fantastic snorkeling and great access to parking. I preferred the parking location at "Keawakapu Wailea-Ekahi Public Beach Access". Before 9am, there is ample parking, bathrooms and spot to wash salt water off. From this parking lot, you are 25 ft from beach so easy to make trips to vehicle for chairs, coolers, supplies. After 9-10 AM, it will be packed for this time of year. Using this parking area seemed to split the long beach in half for walking north or south. Saw turtles multiple times, fish around rocks while snorkeling and was never crowded. My memories of Maui beaching will always be Keawakapu Beach :)
Beach is beautiful and not overcrowded. The water isn't too rough but it gets deep quickly. Sunset was nice but the sun dips behind another island just on the horizon as it sets. This doesn't spoil the sunset though and I plan to watch it from here again.
Beautiful beach location. We spend the whole day here swimming and snorkeling. The coral here is very pretty and plenty. We saw two turtles while snorkeling. Only negative thing about this beach is no public restroom. There is a fresh water wash though.
Got here at 7:30am. Very Close to the hotel and easy parking. Saw a turtle.
